The Team

The founding team of ArthroScience are Dr. rer. nat. Anne Meseg and Dr. rer. nat. Arlette Vander Pan. Both studied biology at the Free University of Berlin.

They draw on years of experience in developing test methods for efficacy testing of insecticides and alternative control methods in the laboratory. They also advised citizens, authorities, media, and other institutions on pests and their control.

Dr. Arlette Vander Pan

Dissertation 2015: "Pyrethroid resistance in the bed bug Cimex lectularius in Berlin" at the German Environment Agency (UBA). Cimex lectularius in Berlin“ am Umweltbundesamt (UBA).

Test leader of the working group "Research and Development" in the department "Health Pests and their Control" at UBA with the main focus on:

• Development and establishment of new test methods for efficacy testing of biocides and biocide-free products in the laboratory.
• Development and establishment of in-vitro feeding methods for vertebrate-free breeding of the bed bug Cimex lectularius and the body louse Pediculus humanus humanus. Development of the basis for awarding the "Blue Angel" German eco-label for heat treatment of indoor pests.
• Collaboration on the preparation of the OECD "Guidance Document on Laboratory Assays for Evaluating the Efficacy of Biocides against Bed Bugs."
• Collaboration on guidelines of the EU Biocide Regulation for efficacy testing of repellent products against bed bugs.

Dissertation 2018: "Test methods for efficacy testing of predator baits, repellents and monitoring methods against cockroaches, ants and bed bugs" at UBA.

Deputy test leader of the "Research and Development" working group in the "Health Pests and their Control" department at UBA, focusing on:

• Development and establishment of new test methods for efficacy testing of biocides and biocide-free products in the laboratory.
• Development and establishment of new test methods for efficacy testing of biocides and biocide-free products in the laboratory. in-vitro Fütterungsmethoden zur Wirbeltierfreien Zucht der Bettwanze Cimex lectularius und der Kleiderlaus Pediculus humanus humanus.
• Preparation of the OECD document "Guidance Document on Testing the Efficacy of Baits and Repellents against Tropical Ants."
• Collaboration on guidelines of the EU Biocide Regulation on efficacy testing of bait products against ants and repellent products against ants and bed bugs.
